Storage New Eltham Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Storage New Eltham has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to respect human rights, uphold fair working conditions, and act with integrity in all our business relationships.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage New Eltham maintains a strict zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. We are committed to acting professionally, fairly, and with transparency in all our business dealings and relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains.
All colleagues, contractors, and business partners are expected to share this commitment. Any behaviour that is inconsistent with this policy is taken seriously and may result in disciplinary action, termination of contracts, or referral to the relevant authorities.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage New Eltham provides storage solutions and related services to individuals and businesses. Our supply chains include property and facility management, security and maintenance services, cleaning services, equipment and materials, and professional services. We recognise that certain areas, sectors, and geographies may present a higher risk of modern slavery and we seek to identify and address those risks proactively.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We aim to work only with suppliers and contractors who uphold compatible values on human rights, labour standards, and ethical conduct. As part of our due diligence process, Storage New Eltham:
Requests confirmation from key suppliers that they comply with applicable labour, employment, and human rights legislation and that they do not tolerate any form of modern slavery within their operations.
Assesses the risk profile of new and existing suppliers, taking into account the nature of the goods or services provided and the locations in which they operate.
Reserves the right to carry out audits, inspections, or requests for supporting documentation from suppliers, particularly where higher risks are identified. These audits may include reviewing policies, training records, and employment practices and, where appropriate, visiting supplier premises.
Where we identify concerns, we will work with suppliers to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe. If a supplier fails to adequately address issues or refuses to cooperate, we may review the relationship and, where necessary, terminate the contract.
Training and Awareness
We seek to ensure that relevant colleagues understand the risks of modern slavery and the role they play in identifying and preventing it. This includes making our zero-tolerance stance clear during induction and through ongoing communications, and providing guidance to those involved in procurement, facilities, and contractor management so that they can recognise warning signs and respond appropriately.
Reporting Concerns and Speaking Up
Storage New Eltham encourages a culture of openness and accountability. We expect all colleagues, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns relating to modern slavery or human rights abuses, whether they occur within our own operations or in our supply chains.
Concerns can be raised with line managers or senior management, or through any designated internal reporting channel operated by Storage New Eltham. Reports may be made confidentially and will be taken seriously and investigated promptly, fairly, and sensitively. No individual will suffer detrimental treatment for raising a genuine concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated following investigation.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to combating modern slavery. Over time, this may include strengthening supplier assessments, enhancing contractual requirements, providing more targeted training, and refining our internal procedures for identifying and responding to risks.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually by the leadership of Storage New Eltham to ensure it remains accurate, effective, and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. Any significant changes to our business operations or risk profile will prompt an earlier review. Following each review, the statement may be updated to reflect the steps we have taken and the progress we continue to make in preventing modern slavery and human trafficking.
